Stephen Vossler started playing “France 1940” & “Tactics II” in 1974 and has not been able to stop since. At a “Panzer Blitz” tournament in 1975 he met Dave Glewwe, Bob Yager and the local gaming gang. He was introduced to “Metamorphosis Alpha”, “Empire of the Petal Throne” and “D&D” and soon became an avid role-player, gaming with Sioux Falls most active players and GMs; David Bainum, Tom Fisher, Rich Erickson, Brian Maneth, Duane Bowen, Bill Huet all shared their worlds and adventures with him.
At the same time Stephen also developed a taste for miniature games, Ancients, Armor, Naval, Fantasy, taking in everything he could get his hands on. In his later years, living in the Twin Cities, Stephen sought out Prof, MAR Barker, creator of the world of “Tekumel”, and became a regular player in the infamous “Thursday Night Group”. He helped design some Tekumel Miniatures and RPG rules and dabbled at designing some of his own adventure modules, source material and game systems. After living for some time in Alaska, an area nearly devoid of gaming, he returned home to Sioux Falls and discovered Midwest Area Gaming Enthusiasts.
Stephen has been very active in M.A.G.E since he joined, helping to develop the Mage website, organizing or running events for their various conventions. Stephen has served as Sioux Falls Chapter President since 1996. The semi-monthly GameDays in Sioux Falls offers an open invitations for all types of games and gamers. Lately Stephen has fallen in love with Victorian Era gaming and the Steampunk genre. He has written rules for his well known “Challenger Corps” RPG as well miniatures rules for “Clattering Iron & Hissing Steam” and most recently “Æro Fleets”. He also is the author of “Steam Trek” online PBEM which is a unique combination of Steampunk and Star Trek.
In his capacities as a gamer, author, organizer and hobbyist, Stephen has endeavored to promote gaming by putting on fun games, creating new & unique game systems and making available opportunities to share in the hobby he loves.
